The Portland Thorns are a defining force in women’s soccer and a symbol of pride for the City of Roses. We partnered with the club to create a digital experience that reflects their energy, their community, and the athletes who inspire fans across Portland and beyond.
In parallel with a change in ownership, the Thorns needed a website that matched the strength and spirit of the team. Their previous site felt dated and difficult to navigate, which made it hard for fans to find essential information like schedules, player details, and club updates. It was tethered to the MLS CMS and was never truly independent from the Timbers digital property. A modern sports club requires a digital presence that is clear, fast, and built to support growing community engagement.
They needed a full redesign with a structure that serves fans, partners, and internal teams. The goal was to create a site that feels dynamic and welcoming, while making it easy to celebrate players, follow matches, and stay connected to the club. All while making it easy for staff to maintain.
We designed every page of the new site with a fan first mindset. The focus was on clarity, energy, and a content structure that supports quick access to the information supporters check most often. The navigation and hierarchy were rebuilt from the ground up, making schedules, rosters, news, and ticketing simple to find.
We designed the full experience in Figma and built it in Webflow, creating a modular system that allows for easy updates as rosters shift, matches evolve, and new content is published. The design language balances bold sports energy with clean layouts, ensuring the site feels exciting without losing usability.
Every decision centered on honoring the club’s identity, strengthening fan connection, and celebrating the athletes who make the Thorns a cultural force.
